Leadership Skills

I believe leadership is a combination of communication, mentoring, and focusing on the needs of the project or business. My leadership skills include:

  • Managing a $13M education marketing division of Monster, including oversight of a strategic acquisition and integration in the education marketing space.
  • Creating a marketing strategy and team for online programs at the University of Illinois.
  • Leading marketing strategy for Language Stars, the national leader in foreign language education for kids, and representing the marketing and enrollment side of the business in meetings with investors.
  • Building and managing cross-company teams in the development of complex products and services, and toward the solution of specific business problems.
  • Defining and directing the priorities of technologists, designers, user experience workers, and other areas involved in web production.
  • Direct management of staffs of 15, and cross-company direction of larger groups.
  • Leading client projects, creating cost-effective methods for producing client web sites, and establishing procedures that integrate initial and ongoing client communications.
  • Presenting solutions for new or revised products, visual designs, or digital marketing solutions to top-level executives, boards, and investors.
  • Expertise of a managing editor gained from working with top editors, researchers, and proofreaders at Encyclopædia Britannica.
